The power of Pharaoh was immense. Neither the Egyptians nor the Israelites dared to speak out against the sovereign. How could they? This was god! Untouchable by words of mortal men.

It was a man who was only known for his impulsiveness that had to be won over to go to Pharaoh. But speaking to Pharaoh directly didn’t work, “Kaved lev Paroh”, Pharaoh had a strong heart. So Moses realized he needed more. He needed to rely on nature.

Moses approached Pharaoh whilst the latter was in the water in the morning. In other words - Pharaoh was relieving himself. Moses spoke to Pharaoh whilst he not only gave way to his natural needs, but also was physically within nature. Only there Pharaoh was not godly, but part of nature. Then the education of Pharaoh, by way of the plagues, began. And then the journey of the Israelites towards freedom began.

And so it is for us. Only when we realize that we are only humans and connected to nature, are we really able to hear what divinity wants from us.

De macht van Faraoh was immense. De Egyptenaren noch de Israeliten durfden zich uit te spreken tegen de souverein. JHoe konden ze! Dit was immers god!

Onaantastbaar door de woorden van eenvoudige stervelingen.

Het was een man die tot dan toe alleen maar bekend stond om zijn impulsiviteit die Faraoh moest overtroeven. Maar direct tot Faraoh spreken werkte niet: Kaved lev Par'oh. Faraoh had een krachtig hart. Mozes realiseerde zich dat hij meer nodig had: hij moest vertrouwen op de natuur.

Mozes ging naar Faraoh terwijl hij 's "ochtends in het water zat". Met andere woorden: hij was zijn behoefte aan het doen. Moses sprak dus met Faraoh niet alleen terwijl die één van zijn meest natuurlijke behoeftes deed, maar ook terwijl hij zich fysiek in de natuur bevond. Alleen daar was Faraoh niet goddelijk, maar natuurlijk en onderdeel van de natuur. Toen pas kon de opvoeding van Faraoh, door middel van de plagen, beginnen. Toen pas begon de Israelieten hun reis naar de vrijheid.

Zo is het ook voor ons. Pas als we ons realiseren dat we onderdeel zijn van de natuur, gewoon door wat we zijn, en verbonden zijn met de natuur kunnen we horen wat het Goddelijke met ons wil.
